Dr Helena Chadderton and Dr Angela Kimyongur launch new book: Engagement in 21st Century French and Francophone Culture

Dr Helena Chadderton and Dr Angela Kimyongür are looking forward to the publication of their new book: Engagement in 21st Century French and Francophone Culture, due for publication with the University of Wales Press in November 2017. The book began its life at an international conference held at the University of Hull in 2014 which was inspired by the editors’ research interests in the role politics plays in contemporary French culture. Dr Chadderton is currently working on the return of the contemporary French social novel and the work of Olivier Adam and Edouard Louis, while Dr Kimyongür is working on the ways in which contemporary French crime writers deploy the crime novel to explore political and social issues. The  book explores the ways in which the concept of engagement has evolved to take account of crises in contemporary French and Francophone society, and does so in a range of cultural media. Thank you to all our contributors for their patience and hard work!
