Joe Dale to visit Hull: Schools and University staff come together at language learning and new technologies event #mfltwitterati

Thanks to the dedication and hard work of Dr Helena Chadderton as organiser, and also Kerry Dobson who secured funding, staff from many Schools will be on campus at the University of Hull on Thursday 19th October for a free Modern Languages event in the School of Histories, Languages and Cultures. Joe Dale will lead a short course on language teaching, learning and new technologies which is billed as follows:

This hands-on course will explore how different cross-platform tools can promote collaboration, independent learning, creativity and assessment opportunities. Delegates will have plenty of hands-on time to explore the power and potential of different technologies such as iPads, Android devices and Windows tablets and laptops for enhancing learning in and out of the classroom. Focusing on pedagogical principles and improving outcomes, Joe Dale will demonstrate how easy it is to enhance learning in a purposeful way with a range of free apps or tools which are device agnostic allowing learners to practise, reflect and share the results easily.

Staff in Modern Languages look forward to welcoming teachers from: Abbey Grange Academy; Ampleforth; Axholme Academy; Belle Vue Girls School; Beverley High School; Hall Cross Academy; Healing Academy; Howden School; Kelvin Hall School; The Minster School, Southwell; St Peter’s York; Wyke 6th Form College. Staff in Modern Languages are also welcoming visitors from Bishop Grossteste University and thank then for their sponsorship of an event funded by the University of Hull’s Access Office.
