Hull’s Shoosmith Language Learning Centre announces surgeries for all students

Under the new leadership of Janine Kopp in French, the Shoosmith Language Learning Centre (SLLC) at the University of Hull is now running supportive surgeries for all students of Modern Languages and Translation Studies. The SLLC has long been symbolic of the Hull’s tradition of excellence in promoting and enabling language learning the the very highest of standards.

In 2016-17 the Shoosmith Language Learning Centre relocated to the Brynmor Jones Library (BJL) from its former home in the Ferens Building. A dedicated room in BJL, a quiet space, awaits all those who want to work there on coursework, revision or private study. There is also a group study room which is used to deliver language advising sessions to students in the core languages of Chinese, English, French, German, Italian and Spanish as well as the Passport Languages from the emergent IWLP of Japanese and Russian.

The quiet space houses a collection of language learning textbooks and resources as well as a bank of laptops for the exclusive use of Modern Languages students. As a new departure for 2016-17 academic staff are holding some of their consultation hours in the SLLC. As the new academic year gains increasing momentum, all students of languages at Hull are warmly encouraged to make the most of the excellent opportunities available.
